The Plum City School District provides special education services and accommodations to those students who meet the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s criteria and need special education programming. We provide programming that is individualized and inclusive to meet each student’s unique needs. Services are provided for students age 3 through 21 who qualify.
A student's disabilities and needs are determined by an Individual Education Plan Team composed of individuals familiar with the student and knowledgeable in special education. Parents, school district staff, and the student, as appropriate, are all involved in determining eligibility for special education. Teams may also include: general education teachers, special education teachers, school psychologists, related services personnel and school administrators. This team determines if a student qualifies as a student with a disability and what services are needed. A student may qualify under one or more of the following disability categories:
Intellectual Disability (ID)
Autism (A)
Hearing Impairment (HI)
Visual Impairment (VI)
Speech or Language Impairment (SL)
Orthopedic Impairment (OI)
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Emotional Behavioral Disability (EBD)
Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
Other Health Impairment (OHI)
Significant Development Delay- (SDD) Ages 3-9 only
If a student is determined eligible for special education services, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) will be developed for the student. Parents, school district staff, and the student, as appropriate are important team members who all help to develop this plan.
