Each year the bloodmobile event comes up in Plum City. As you probably know, the Red Cross is able to provide scholarships to seniors at Plum City since students help work at our blood drives and support our efforts by donating blood themselves. The amount of money available for scholarships is determined by the number of units of blood that are collected at the July, October, and following March blood drives at the Plum City Legion Hall. In the past, we have ranged very close to 200 units. "Very close" is particularly crucial since collecting 151-200 units earns $1000 while raising 201-300 units earns $2500. Unfortunately, if we have 199 or 200 units, then we lose out on $1500 worth of scholarship money that 2 more units would have made us eligible for. In 2020, during the pandemic when donations were down, this type of thing happened. Last year our July drive collected 61 units, and the Halloween drive collected 67 units. So in order to reach our 201 units needed to earn $2500, we need 73 units collected in March. Please don't hesitate to make an appointment to help us out in reaching our goal. You may go on-line at www.redcrossblood.org or call Pat Coulson at (715)647-4952 or (507) 993-9218 to make an appointment. (An appointment is required.) Hope to see you there!
